I think it’s official. Starting your Chicago engagement session with Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams is the key to success. How cute are these two?!

I traveled to Chicago to photograph Jennifer + Jack, and we kicked things off with ice cream at Jeni’s before making our way through a few neighborhood streets and down to North Avenue to capture that glorious Chicago skyline.

It was the perfect evening after all of the summer rain. We wandered, ate ice cream, laughed a whole lot and basically just let Chicago do its thing.

A Summer Engagement Session in Chicago

One of my favorite things about photographing engagement sessions in Chicago is how much variety you can squeeze into one evening. Jennifer + Jack got a little neighborhood charm, a Jeni’s ice cream date and those classic city views all in one session.

I’m always down for engagement photos that feel a little more like an actual date and a little less like a photoshoot. Add ice cream and I’m extra sold.
